2. get another mic. the good sound comes from having two inputs. you cant get good stereo sound from one mic, it just isnt possible. grab a regular handheld and have the people hold it under their chins—out of frame. better yet, steal a lav mic from convergence.
3. silence is sometimes golden. if the wind is making a horrible noise against the mic, kill the feed and run good nat sound.
4. after you introduce a new subject, cut away. people start looking stupid after about two seconds, run b-roll over their voices.
5. don't hold the shot longer than you have to. once it registers in a persons brain, its time to cut away. pretend your audience is a ferret on meth—zero attention span.
6. it isnt a disaster if the horizon is tilted. you can correct that in FC if you want to. when the clip is in the center window, there is a little button over the display but still in that center window. click it and go to wireframe+image. now you can zoom in on the image and correct the tilt.
7. you can tone the video with thre--click in FC the way you can in PS. click on the effects tab in the left hand window and go to video filters. go to color correction/3-way correction. in the center window click on the visual button. click auto correct highs, auto correct lows, auto correct mids.
