The Jesus Lizard

As I get older I find myself looking for new music to listen less and less. I sometimes cringe when I pop in an old CD of a band I used to worship because I find that I grew out of them and think to myself, "Why the hell did I listen to that?" I can count on one hand the bands that I started listening to 10-15 years ago that I still listen to today.

Well, I just found out my favorite band of all time is getting back together for a very brief period next fall and I am so excited. The Jesus Lizard is a band that I hated the first couple of times I heard them. They grew on me and I eventually went to see them live. They were the best live band I have and ever will see in my life. No props, no gimmicks, just gut bucket rock n' roll and one hell of a scary/funny frontman. The wife of my friend once said to him after playing it their car, "Don't you ever play that in this car again."

I know this has nothing to do with photography and maybe the 2 people who look at this blog will watch the video and be like, "What the hell is he thinking listen to this for?" But I haven't been this excited about wanting to see live performance in 10 years. I guess I'm just posting this so I have a quick way to see them play one of my favorite songs.

From a recent article: "This fleeting reunion offers an incredible opportunity to either be blown away all over again or to immerse yourself in the sweaty power and driving mayhem for the very first time."

Election Night in Grant Park

This is just a few of the photos I took last night at the rally in Grant Park in Chicago last night. Truly an historic night and I was really lucky to have witnessed it first hand. I went because I wanted to be close to history being made and so my main purpose wasn't taking photographs but soaking it all up. It still hasn't hit me yet.
